Sufra Collaboration Kicks Off With Food Collection In October – Please Note New Training Schedule On 8th October

On the blessed event of Eid –e-Mubahila (24 Dhu Al Hijjah 1438 / 15 September 2017) SJFA launched the SJFA ‘ONE TEAM’ Social Responsibility Programme (SJFA SRP).

The launch of SJFA SRP also marked the beginning of our partnership with Sufra – NW London(http://www.sufra-nwlondon.org.uk/), a Community Food Bank & Kitchen which aims to support disadvantaged families suffering food poverty in the local area.

To kick off a year long of activities engaging the SJFA family a Food Collection has been planned during the training session on 22 October.

Sufra – NW London will be represented during the training session on 8 October and will deliver a short talk on the charity and how it supports families in the local community.

On the 8 October we will also have the privilege of having the FA attending our training session and would ask you all to welcome, Andrew Perrin, Recreational Football Development Officer from the Middlesex FA.

On the back of these visits we have structured the training session on 8 October as follows:

2.20pm – Training Starts
3.45pm – End of Training
3.50pm – Sufra Talk and handing out of shopping list

During the training Sufra will distribute shopping lists and shopping trolley coins.

As we mark the Muslin New Year with sorrow and sadness with culminates on Ashura. Ashura marks the climax of the Remembrance of Muharram and commemorates the death of Imam Hussein ibn Ali (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) at the Battle of Karbala on 10 Muharram. Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions were massacred in the plain of Karbala with no access to water or food for 3 days.

With the above in mind, we feel that we should instil the true nature of sharing from what we have with the needy and less fortunate members of our society. We therefore humbly ask parents and children alike to engage and help them to pack the shopping list at home and return the food package to the training session on 22 October so that this can be distributed by Sufra accordingly to the poor and needy.

Please look out for other activities with Sufra including smoothie making and sponsored walks around Wembley Stadium by visiting our website at http://www.sjfa.org.uk.
One of the key objectives of the SJFA SRP is to instil the act of charity in our youth. Inshallah all parents, extended families and boys will support this worthwhile cause.
