SJFA Visits Chelsea FC Academy

SJFA representatives (Shafique Govani – Welfare Officer/Head of External Relations and Safrazali Valjy – Head of Operations) were invited to a community coaches information evening, facilitated by the FA Equality & Diversity department, at Chelsea FC’s training ground at Cobham on Tuesday 12th December.

Chelsea FC’s Academy is keen to have better engagement with community focused clubs across London and to do that, they invited a number of grassroots coaches to come to their academy, see how their teams are coached and then have a Q&A session with them afterwards.

Following an escorted tour and observation of Chelsea FC Academy training sessions, academy coaches gave a presentation about the premiership club’s programme, structure, and philosophy.

Once again, these kind of events underpin SJFA’s objective of engagement and networking with various tiers of English Football, from grassroots to professional level.

The visit also provided the opportunity to meet Jamie Redknapp, and ex-England professional player with Liverpool FC and Tottenham Hotspur on his CV in addition to 17 England caps.
