Chalfont St. Peter AFC vs SJFA U11

On Saturday 30 March, SJFA under 11s took part in a friendly match against Chalfont. Our squad was:

Suhail Merali
Ali Mehdi Abbas Ismail
Sajjad Suleman
Adam Valjy
Husayn Gulamhussein
Haani Merali
Basher al-Jamali
Husayn Merali
Uzayr Mawjee

First quarter

The boys had a nervous start, and a few early mistakes at the back and by the keeper cost us 3 goals. We were never really in the game from that point on.

Husayn Merali had a particularly strong performance and was our key man in the middle of the pitch.

Second quarter

After changing a few things, Haani went in goal and Basher in defence and this solidified things and we did not concede any goals. Ali Ismail was making some promising runs and Suhail was at the back controlling the game. Although we didn’t score we more than held our own. Haani was outstanding in goal and Basher cleared everything.

Third quarter

Again we changed a few things to give everyone a chance to play in their preferred positions, and we let in two goals, both powerful shots that we could not do much about.

Uzayr was very solid at the back and Husayn Gulamhussein was intercepting a lot of passes in midfield.

Fourth quarter

We had lots of possession but up front we were lacking, although our wing play was very good with Ali making some promising runs and Suhail trying to find him with some decent passes. Sajjad Suleman played well in defence. Adam showed some glimpses of good skill.

The eventual score was 6-0 but this was a bit harsh on us. We should have scored at least 2 but it wasn’t to be.

The boys gave 100% and should be proud of themselves.
