The following players represented SJFA Under 11s for two games in the ProFutsal Youth league:
Husayn Ali Abbas Ismail
We were without a few players and also a keeper for the fixtures which was an immediate disadvantage against both opposition who had at least 8-9 players for this demanding form of the game. However, in true Stanmore spirit, the boys were not to be daunted.
The first game against Bloomsbury was a tight affair and was end to end, neither team could break the deadlock and both seemed determined to win. Each game was for half an hour and it took 25 minutes before Bloomsbury broke the deadlock and despite every effort to equalise we lost 1-0.
The second game against Pro-Futsal was always going to be an uphill battle. The boys had little rest and the lack of subs meant they had to try and give everything they had again against a team who had 5 subs and were quite literally pros in futsal (apt name of the team)! They had been playing Futsal together for over 2 years and they were very good. The coach was constantly reminding them to only have 2 touches and they were quick both on and off the ball. We kept them at 0-0 for the first 6-7 minutes of the game, before, they opened us up and scored. Before the half was up they were 4-0 up scoring some well worked goals. Our players could do little to stop them.
In the second half we gave everything and managed to score a few goals, unfortunately, ProFutsal also continued to score and the final score was 10-3.
I was extremely proud of the commitment and effort of all the boys, they really did give everything and i’m sure it was a great learning experience for them all.
