Match Report

The coaches played a blinder this week for the opener of the campaign. Revealing the team on Thursday at midnight, they were intent on keeping their cards very close to their chest. Then, opting for a 2-2 formation, the experience of the coaches was on show with the tier 2 side playing a quality 1st quarter. Going 1-0 up quicker than the mighty Spurs in the CL, Ali Nurmohammed’s opener was so quick, his dad missed it while he was busy catching up on the gossips from the recent Khoja Davos conference. Ali N finished the quarter with a hat trick and we were sailing.

2nd quarter was a different story. We let in 3 and the visitors pulled it back to 3-3 but Zayn Khatau scored an unbelievable solo goal on the counter attack. It finished 4-3.

3rd quarter was tight. Both teams settling into a rhythm, understanding their roles. There were passes, tackles, free kicks. It actually resembled a football match. We went up 5-3 but with the last kick of the quarter they brought it back to 5-4. No one wanted this match to end but the last quarter beckoned.

4th quarter had it all, and more. The visitors equalized with an awesome solo goal from their star player Isa squeezing it in past the near post. Our lads knew they had to do something extraordinary to stop him…. taking one for the team, he was taken down by the far touchline. It all happened so quickly…did he get the ball or was it a tactical foul. The foul was given, there were some tears but after a sportsman handshake between the 2 lads, the game resumed. The game had draw written all over it but Abbas Rajvani had other ideas and with the last kick of the game, he capped off a memorable team performance, steering the Jafferys to a 6-5 deserved win.

Man of the match was shared between our very own Ali Nurmohammed who scored 4 goals and the visitor’s Isa.

Well done boys!
